Vote for Right to Ban Fireworks in Neighborhoods

This is a petition to the King County Council asking for reconsideration of an ordinance change which would permit neighborhoods (fire protection districts) in unincorporated King County to create "no fireworks" zones. The current situation is that cities have the right to decide whether or not to allow fireworks on Independence Day, but unincorporated areas do not. The goal of this petition is to give neighborhoods local control through a voting process. If the ordinance is approved, it will take at least 10 petition signatures from elector-residents of each voting precinct within the boundaries of the no fireworks zone to set the issue for hearing. If approved, it will take one year before a ban can take effect.

5 years ago Comments: Especially with consideration of global warming this hazard can no longer be tolerated in our communities in KC. Please consider banning fireworks altogether in all areas of unincorporated King County. Thank you, Lyn McKay 11515 88th Ave. S Seattle, WA 98178 (no mailing lists or contact please)
