| 55 | Matt | In almost every facet a manager can be judged on, he has failed miserably, and most of the issues are not just related to 2006.
Baserunning, for at least 3 years we have watched the Indians have brain farts on the basepaths, why hasn't this issue been address. Wedge talks about it being a problem but as always no solution or no evidence that it is being addressed.
Fielding, atrocious, more so this year then in years past, but where is the evidence that Wedge is trying to correct the problem.
Bunting, another 3 years and running problem, the team can not execute a simple bunt in any situation let alone a game on the line late inning scenerio. Why aren't the working on this?
Record in 1 run games, this is where we judge a manager's ability to manage during the game, and I don't have the stats, but I do know over the last 2 seasons the Indians record in 1 run games sucks big time! Just think Jim Leyland was out there all these years yet we get Bill Belichek jr minus the wins and championships. |

The Indians will have an uphill battle trying to win any close games against good teams. Our inability to score runs in close games, when we need to, remains a major weakness.
It won't matter who we trade for or sign if this weakness isn't corrected it won't matter. Wedge manages more like slow pitch softball skipper instead of a guy who really knows the finer points of the game.

Mark Shapiro needs to step away form his frienship with Wedge and look at what is best for the team and organization. I'm still mad about teh hole Brandon Phillips situtation wityh these two, I'm pretty sure everyone that is a Tribe fan would much rather have Brandon Phillips than Mike Rouse, but kno we had to go trade away two top tlaents in our farm system to get a young 2nd basemen becasue the screwed up with Philips. Why are we the only team in teh majors that has a constant platooning situation at LF,RF,1B & 3B. Is it going to take the entire season for the brain trust to look at teh true contenders ( I wish I could say we were one but I'm trying to be non-bias ) and see that they don't have that situation because they spend money on players and don't go cheap on the fans. |
