Dear President Ferguson & AD Abbott, As long-time fans of Maine hockey we implore you to immediately make a head coaching change, replacing Tim Whitehead. After barely making it into the Hockey East playoffs this year, Maine Hockey for the third time in five years failed to advance beyond the opening round. In this same time span, Maine has only made the national tournament once, being knocked out in the first round. It is time to restore this beloved program to a national powerhouse. One that regularly contended for and won the Hockey East championship and competed in the Frozen Four. We remember and long for the days when a ticket to the Alfond was hard to come by -- now the area from the lower bowl to the student section had many empty seats. We are loyal fans and will be there to cheer on the students athletes who make up the Maine Black Bears, but we urge you to take action to make changes with the program to prevent its further demise. From an overall win percentage this season of .395 to an average attendance of 4,201 (82% of Alfond capacity) the numbers are depressing and warrant a change. We hope you agree.
