As a fellow patient advocate and EMT I was outraged by this. Upon doing some more digging, this same officer has also been suspended for using excessive force on another occasion that I know of. This mockery of a so called "law officer" should be made an example of so that this incident remains an isolated one.

He could have followed the ambulance to the HOSPITAL before stopping or approaching the EMT/Paramedics. A complete apology should have been issued IMMEDIATELY, instead of excuses and such. This man is should NOT be a peace officer/policeman/Highway Patrolman, etc. He should not be in Law Enforcement in any capacity! Interfering with ANY medical professional providing medical care for a patient should NOT be interfered with in any way. Even though a patient is not CURRENTLY "coding" it does not mean it could not happen in an instant. When a person has a acute or chronic medical condition it increases their chances of having complications. You need to instruct ALL Patrolmen that paramedics/EMTs providing care should not be hindered in any way, shape or form during their duty. This has happened to multiple paramedics/EMTs in multiple jurisdictions. The law enforcement communities need to respect them, because if they are ever in need of emergency care, these are the people who will be working to save their life, limbs or eyesight. I am glad disciplinary action was taken against Daniel Martin, but Highway Patrol personnel need to be educated to leave ALL paramedics/EMTs caring for patients alone. As a fellow patient advocate and EMT I was outraged by this. Upon doing some more digging, this same officer has also been suspended for using excessive force on another occasion that I know of. This mockery of a so called "law officer" should be made an example of so that this incident remains an isolated one.
