John Steigerwald's horrible article on the beating of San Francisco Giants fan Brian Stow at an LA Dodgers game is an example of the line of thinking that led to the assault itself -- while Mr. Steigerwald is free to express his opinion, it is extremely odd he uses that freedom to express that Mr. Stow shouldn't have exercised that same right by representing his fandom by simply wearing a Giants jersey.
Mr. Steigerwald should be free to express this and other obtuse opinions at his leisure, but he shouldn't be paid to do so. This petition looks to end Mr. Steigerwald's employment/association with the Observer-Reporter and to make the statement that such opinions will be met with a unified and categorical denial that such thinking has merit in a free country.
