The Public Citizens of New Jersey, in agreement with the National and International fan base of the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League, collectively defined for the purposes of this document as “Fans”, respectfully submit the following petition for the immediate dismissal of Mr. John MacLean from his duties as Head Coach. We object to the over-all performance of Mr. MacLean and his ability to create an atmosphere that is conducive to a winning strategy. Furthermore, Coach MacLean holds a franchise record of mediocre results while in the role of head coach, and shows no sign of shifting his trajectory at this time. The Fans feel that they have been unjustly treated by the New Jersey in as much that they are expected to pay inflated ticket pricing for seating at the Prudential Center to watch their team play hockey which lacks passion and play a system that lacks direction. Our team is not too young to perform like champions, nor is the depths of our talent too shallow to return winning results. The Fans believe that the current - 8-17-2 record, falls squarely at the feet of Coach MacLean, solely due to his inadequacies and overuse of the words "Ya Know?". As the most important stakeholder’s to the New Jersey Devils organization, the Fans who purchase the tickets, the jersey’s, the tee-shirts, the hats, the hot dogs, the drinks, and the parking passes. We request that the role of John MacLean as head coach be reconsidered based on this review and analysis and that he be dismissed and/or reassigned promptly, without incident.
