Give the officers the tools to do the job - cut out the wateful QUANGOS, Agencies, Seminars, Forums, Action Plans, etc and direct the blame to the people who distribute our money the politicians in London.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Aug 21, 2007Comments: cornwall county council fire policy is complete madness,it is also instigated and backed by the government just to save money. nationwide all protests have been ignored and the so called consultations are just a bad joke. we have in fact no control over the people that are supposed to serve us,they just toe the line of the government.Flag

Name: J.M. Doney on Aug 21, 2007Comments: Cornwall needs full time crews and equipment which is reliable and available 24/7. Having two aerial ladders off the road at the same time and none operational in the County is not good enough. Chief Fire Officer should be made to answer.Flag

Name: J.Newton on Aug 21, 2007Comments: Our emergency services are civil defence organisations who should be adequately equipped to deal with any civil emergency not just fire and should have the necessary funding from central government to carry out that duyy effectively. The recent flooding in this country proved the importance of having effective resources to deal with the emergency and not to wait for the inevitable to happen or an 'unfortunate coincidence' happening.Flag

Name: Stuart McQueen on Aug 21, 2007Comments: I fully support this campaign to keep full time cover, but as my employment is in fire fighting training I do not think that any number more fire fighters arriving sooner could have done any better than those involved on that night. We must praise them for their efforts and not just knock the brigade for a political matter of moneyFlag

Name: Richard Wells on Aug 21, 2007Comments: These cuts MUST stop. The Fire Brigade must have all the resources it needs in terms of equipment and manpower to effectively deal with any emergency it may face. This means the best appliances money can buy, and , in addition to the retained firefighters, full time 24 hour crews at the major towns in the county. Nothing less than this is acceptable !!Flag

Name: Kim Dell on Aug 21, 2007Comments: It is time county councils stopped putting money before life. It is public money and should be spent the way the public want it spent. Scrap all cuts planned for the fire service and the health service. Listen to the people who elected you and put life first.Flag

Name: Vince King on Aug 21, 2007Comments: The lack of proper fire cover during the day and especially at night, when statiscally the most fatalities occur, is a disgrace to this government and an insult to the people of Cornwall and the rest of this country. If both the Chief Fire Officer and the councillors of Cornwall were as commited to campaigning to central government for proper funding of the fire service as they are to ensuring their ludicrous pay and expenses rises then we could all sleep safely in our beds at night.Flag

Name: PETE COUCH on Aug 21, 2007Comments: As a serving Devon firefighter i fully back your campaign to stop cuts in the Cornish Fire and Rescue Service and increase investment. I find it so tragic that events like these have to happen before those in authority decide to act! I only hope this serves as a very real reminder to management and Fire authority members in Devon who may think that aerial appliance/job cuts are the way forward in our brigade!Flag

Name: Alison Palmer on Aug 22, 2007Comments: The fire service is something that you cannot cut corners on. Cornwall always seems the poor relation where budgets are concerned with government departments. Cornwall wants and needs a first rate service for both the local population and our summer visitors.Flag

Name: Brian Palmer on Aug 22, 2007Comments: The emergency services should never be subject to cuts. Not only should we not cut the two 24 hour stations that we have but we need 24 hour cover in mid and east Cornwall as well. The Newquay fire showed what happens when there are not enough resources in the right place.Flag
