| 902 | john kelly | Cuts would not be needed IF the regionalisation of fire services to meet EU demands was dumped - another "benefit" of our membership of the EU!! |
| 903 | Mrs S Mew | |
| 904 | Sheila Parsons | We live in Exmouth with a population of around 40.000 people which nearly doubles in the summer, to not have a fire service cover over night will cost people lives. |

| 906 | Anonymous | Thank you Western Morning News and the public of Devon and Cornwall for your support. Preventing cuts to operational services and saving lives must take priority. |

| 911 | Neil Edward Ford | To cut this and other services that are stretched due to mediocre budgets, is criminal, when so much money is wasted in this country of ours. |

| 913 | Anonymous | County Councillors - Have they any common sense, we pay our taxes for front line services. Our Fire Brigade are fantastic and need investment to stay this way. Not Cuts |
| 914 | Carolin Coward | We need 24hour cover in Falmouth and Penryn. What about the Docks? It's a huge site and if that goes up how long would engines take from Truro or elsewhere? |
| 915 | Andy Smith | |
| 916 | Tamsin Sleeman | We don't need any more people to die in this county because we don't have any fire fighters on duty through the night. |
| 917 | A MACHIN | I urge Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Authority to scrap plans to cut up to 66 firefighters and invest in the fire service |
| 918 | MRS S J VINCENT | I AM A FALMOUTH RESIDENT BORN AND BRED AND THINK THAT IT IS MADNESS TO SCRAP THE NIGHT TIME FIRE SERVICE. FALMOUTH IS AN IMPORTANT PORT WITH THE DOCKS ON ITS DOORSTEP ALSO I WORK IN A RESIDENTIAL HOME, THIS IS PUTTING US ALL IN JEOPARDY. |
| 919 | Andrew Ridyard | It seems blindingly obvious that a 24 hour fire service is not a luxury, but a necessity.
We are a rich country and MUST be able to afford a basic necessity such as this.
One day one of the councillors who vote against the 24hour cover may find themselves trapped in a burning car on the bypass by the Asda roundabout because of another reckless young driver colliding with them ... cold comfort they 'saved money' then! |

| 922 | Tom Weller | It's insane to cut back. Simple as that. Use some common sense. |

| 927 | D.G.Armstrong | As an ex firefighter I know when most significant fires start. |

| 929 | Jean Richards | By cutting services they are cutting lives! |
| 930 | S. Belsten | I am a serving firefighter of 15 years at Torquay, and from experience, know that the most serious and potentially fatal fires are during the night when people are sleeping. Everyone with half a brain knows thet speed of response is vital to saving lives in a fire situation. Imagine being trapped in a burning house inhaling smoke knowing that the fire engine will take longer to arrive because your local station is now retained at night instead of being manned 24 hours. Imagine being trapped in a car following a serious road accident knowing that you will have to wait longer to be cut free from the wreckage due to cutbacks. Surely the chief fire officer and his principal colleagues can find money from other areas of the service without cutting back on the front line. Surely this should be the very last resort, as i seem to recall so many years ago that we are here to save lives... aren't we..............? |
| 931 | Lisa Belsten | This is madness. Please see sense and keep 24 hour cover. |
| 932 | Mike Knutton | |
| 933 | Yannick Knutton | Leave the front line staff alone and look for savings among the bloated, pampered, protected bureaucracy. |

| 937 | M.Breheney | I lived in Cornwall for a time and know how lives are in danger day AND night , so 24 hr cover is IMPERITIVE . I have, children, G. children and G. G. children living in cornwall. Their lives are the most important thing in my life. Fire in my opinion , is the most dangerous . . I also stay in Cornwall hotels, more holidaymakers will stay away if 24 hr cover is withdrawn. News soon travels . We need to be safe while asleep. Cornwall needs tourists.
We need our firefighters . |
