Dear Mack Brown,

We, the beloved nation of Texas, implore you to cut ties with your VERY Offensive Coordinator, Greg Davis. We realize that such an action means breaking with a long and trusted friend, but we believe this has been long in coming.

Texas fans have endured season after season of uniquely strange play calling for a team loaded with talent. In 12 seasons as coordinator, Davis's best plays were his 3rd and 15 calls in 2005... "OK, Vince. Look downfield, count to 3 and run like hell!" Without Vince, his 3rd and 8 calls are not nearly as inspired... "What can I tell you, Gilbert? Look downfield, count to 3, chuck it to the receiver shortest of the first down marker and jog to the bench as we punt it away again."

And don't think this is a single season swoon in poor judgement. In every game for the past 12 years, there were moments where Davis has been the catalyst for hurled remotes, hurled expletives and sometimes, just plain hurling. Some are mindnumbingly stupid, while others are subtle reminders of his lack of common football sense.

Mack, you are by far the best recruiter and head coach Texas has seen since Royal. Your compassion and sportsmanship are legendary. But your loyalty to one man has put into question your loyalty to the millions of UT fans across the world who live and sadly die a little with every win or humbling loss.

For those fans. For the players. For the burnt orange nation of Texas. PLEASE FIRE GREG DAVIS.
