Comments: I love UofU basketball, but this team and last year's are severe underachievers. It's coaching, there are plenty of teams with young players, at least you can make them defend and bench them if they make stupid mistakes.

Comments: Dear Dr. Hill, I believe this program is headed in the wrong direction under Coach Giacoletti. This team resembles many simillarities to the Archibald coached teams. Losing numerous close games, lack of a overall defensive scheme (no defensive rotation, no blocking out and not defending the three point shot) and lack of direction from the head coach. It is sad to see the demise of a program rich in winning tradition. I can't continue to support a program when it loses to the likes of Southern Utah, Colorado, and Albany and has been blown out by mediocore teams (Northwestern and Colorado) during coach Giacoletti tenure. What makes it harder to fathom is UVSC has defeated both Albany and SUU. Is this program really taking a back seat to other in state programs like SUU and UVSC. Conference teams like SDSU,UNLV and Air Force our showing steady imporvement over the last couple of years. I suspect that the next couple of weeks ahead will reveal how bad of shape this program is in. I could be wrong but I think it is obvious that the rest of the season will show that the future of this program will be in serious jeopardy unless a coaching change is made. Sincerly, Mike Bolinder

Comments: Need a change - we are losing our tradition of basketball at the U. I personally have no interest in attending, being a part of or watching any Utah basketball contests anymore. The fact that we are losing is not disturbing, it is how the team comes out flat, unprepared and lacking any direction at the start of games. Sure, we finish well, but only after we are behind by double digit scores do we decide to gain some direction.

Comments: The current situation is indeed unacceptable. We have not only taken a hit, rather, a step or two backwards with the hiring of Giacalleti. Giac is obviously over his head, but we need to look higher to Chris Hill. He is not the wizard as he portrays himself as, getting lucky with a couple of big hires (Majerus and Meyer).

Comments: Ray Giacoletti has proven that he can recruit, but he cannot coach. College basketball is all about coaching and getting your players to believe in your system and each other. Ray Giacoletti has lost control at the University of Utah, which in my opinion, is the third best program in the western United States behind UCLA and Arizona. We deserve better as fans of the Utes.

Comments: Dear Dr. Hill, I am UU alumni and have supported athletics and academics as long as I can remember. I believe and feel entitled to respectully voice my opinion that the men's BB team in real trouble and headed in the wrong direction under the current coach. I have heard only good about what a great guy coach Giac is and I have no reason to disagree. However, being and effective coach that creates and maintains excietement for the program in the community takes more than being a nice guy. My suggestion, one that I am glad i don't have to face, is to put some pressure on him to see results this year. If he can't handle the pressure then cut him loose. Thanks for reading my comment.

Comments: I am a long time UUtah fan and alum. Yes, I see the potential on the 2007 team but the program has been nothing but downhill after the Giacoletti takeover. I am very disappointed to see a team with such potential losing on fundamental mistakes a GOOD coach should be teaching. RESTORE THE LEGACY DR. HILL!

Comments: The wizzard of close games RG blew another one last night against TCU. Fouling their best shooter is brilliant. His timing of subs stinks. He lost two games by failing to call time out with the lead and less than a minute to play.

Comments: As a Utah graduate, I've always been very proud of our basketball tradition. It's astonishing to see the very program that exemplified hard work and discipline so quickly diminish under Ray Giacoletti. I was hoping that last season was an aberration but losses to schools such as Albany and TCU, almost halfway into the season, are inexcusable and enough proof to show that this "coach" is clearly out of his league. The fact that this losing is being tolerated is even more infuriating. Dr.Hill, you have always done an exemplary job of improving our programs. We will never have another Rick Majerus nor do I expect you to find a coach of his calibur. What I do expect, however, is to maintain the tradition and integrity of our basketball program. Please do the right thing and fire this man NOW! The only thing that could salvage this season is to remind everyone that the foundation we've created will not be allowed to be dismantled by one man.

Comments: Giacoletti is a disgrace to the University of Utah Basketball program. I used to go to all the home games and follow every game under Coach Majerus. After last season and after this year's home opening loss to Southern Utah I couldn't care less about this team. I wouldn't pay $1 to watch Giacoletti run my beloved Utes into the ground. I could have told you this would happen when he was hired. The guy never had a 20 win season prior to coming to Utah. Why did Utah, settle for hiring someone from the Big Sky Conference And why did they give him a 7 year deal before he ever proved himself I don't like the way the school ran Rick Majerus off after all that he did for them and I certainly don't like the fact that his replacement can't even beat Albany at home. What a joke!

Comments: Once a college basketball team is down, it is almost impossible to turn it around if it is a mid-major team like the Utes. Giac has demonstrated time and again he cannot coach, he does not know how to use players, he does not make half-time adjustments, players ingore him, he demands no respect. Giac has got to go before irreperable damage is done to this once fine program. (PS fire Andy Ludwig too).

Comments: I am more than a little ashamed to be a fan of Utah Basketball. We have lost to teams that were not even in our division when we went to the title game a few years ago. I cannot believe the inconsistency of the program and this team. Please find a coach who can help his team finish close games. That is where coaching matters.

Comments: The arguments that you are making for firing coach Giacoletti are rediculous. The fact that the Utes are losing close games are not necessarily the coaches fault. It's a fact the Giacoletti has done a great job of recruiting, but if you have a problem about where the program is going, take a look at how much alumni are contributing to the programs they have "pride" in. Some of you say that you wouldn't pay $1 to see Giacoletti's Utes, but that $1 is what seperates the good programs from the greats. As for the fact that Giacoletti doesn't demand respect from his players... How do you know Have you played for coach giacoletti, or do you know so much about psychology that you can tell the players' state of mind from your Lazy Boy Once the players create their petition I'll listen, but until then you can watch with the rest of us, and Coach G good luck and you're doing great.

Comments: He has ruined a top basketball program. He has tons of talent and hasn't done ANYTHING. Anyone could have done what he did with Andrew Bogut, but he hasn't done anything since but drive a great program into the ground. He never even did anything at Eastern Washington. How he got this job I'll never know. Why doesnt the media try and run this guy out, they were able to run one of the greatest college coaches in history out of town.

Comments: It's time to move in a new direction. This coaching regime is not recruiting enough talent and the talent that is available is not responding to Giacoletti's coaching. No hard feelings, but it's time for a change. Quite frankly it's embarassing. This once proud program is in disarray at the moment.
