Name: Craig Nixon on Oct 29, 2007Comments: It is absurd that a person such as myself who has lived in Japan for 20 years, with a Japanese wife and children should even be considered to be fingerprinted. The xenophobia that engulfs Japan's government has got to stop.Flag

Name: Carrie Bilsland on Oct 29, 2007Comments: The discrimination that foreigners in Japan receive is discgusting, this is just another example of how little the government wants foreigners in their country. It seems that when they decided to enact this law, they didnt consider the many long-term, tax paying foreign residents that will be affected by it.Flag

Name: Steven Wynn on Oct 29, 2007Comments: This had gone too far. I am myself like many others here have been living in this country for a long time with my family. I have become a permanent resident long ago and was even considering citizenship at some point but now I find this country ridiculously racist and I will leave, that's it, enough is enough. You have all the possible information about us foreigners, but it's never enough. Separate the families when they come back to their own country, what utter non-sense. It is fascist. Like a person mentioned above, I also happen to employ 50 japanese in my company and we pay our very fair share of the taxes and we give people good jobs and that is how you will treat us foreign devils Over the past 50 years, you have been very lucky that other countries in the world were willing to trade with you and let you get out of poverty. Again, we are not human, we are gaijins...Flag

Name: Gregory Hodson on Oct 29, 2007Comments: Although fingerprinting temporary visa holders and tourists may be a good idea, long term residents and people who have obtained a permanent resident visa should not be required to be fingerprinted and photographed upon re-entry or departure of Japan. Permanent residence have already been approved to be in and stay in Japan indefinately by the government and it is ridiculous to put them through this kind of procedure.Flag

Name: Marcus on Oct 29, 2007Comments: It's a stupid ide athat just hold up entry ques and scares away possilbe tourists and form a hassel to long term residents. Further more it's jsut a copy of America as if to blindly follow what ever America does. The need for Japan to activate such a system can't be seen America got attacked by foriegners and over did things a tad but up to them. Japan's only terror attacks were the subway gassing in 1995 done by the Aum cult consisting of Japanese citizins, maybe percaustions to make sure religious groups within the country don't cuase problems should be done before all foriegners suddenly become potential terrorists or best case we become potential criminals great.......Flag

Name: Monty DiPietro on Oct 29, 2007Comments: I might understand if non-residents were fingerprinted, photographed and interviewed when they enter Japan; but such a processing of foreigners who legally make their home in Japan is rude and racist. Japan got it wrong and the law has to change.Flag

My contribution to Japan, both socially and financially, far exceeds that of my Japanese peers. This policy reeks of discrimination and and will pull Japan down into the same depths of human rights violations that are occurring in the U.S.A.Flag
