Name: Jessica H on May 20, 2008Comments: With the increasing use of biometrics in everyday life (from logging into you laptop to opening the door to your home), I do not believe it is safe (or ethical) for ordinary people, citizens or foreigners alike, to have to submit their fingerprints when entering a country. Despite the Japanese government stating that they will protect the individual's private data, there is no guarantees that the data will be safe - no just from hackers, but even the people working on the system. People don't have to give a set of their house keys to immigration officials when they enter the country, so they shouldn't have to give their fingerprints either.Flag

We live, work and pay taxes in Japan. No foreigner has ever committed an act of domestic terror in Japan's modern history. Rather than increasing surveillance, the government should be concentrating its efforts on resolving the causes of terrorism and Middle East conflict, namely religious and corporate imperialism, which is sustained by the international monetary system.Flag

Name: Tom Murphy on Aug 1, 2008Comments: I arrived in Japan 2 days ago and went through the humiliation of a finger scan. I came here for a holiday and I am so angry at the Japanese I have hardly left my hotel. I came here with an open mind to see what the Japanese people are like and let me say that I had made up my mind before I left the port building. I am considering boycotting all Japanese products when I get home and will be sending my own personal letter to both the European Union, the Irish and the Japanese Government. This is nothing sort of RACISM and it should be stopped IMMEDIATELY. And all people whose fingers were scanned should receive a letter of apology. I am very angryFlag

Sorry, but there are lots of other countries that won't treat me as a terrorist suspect, so I'll visit those instead.Flag
