Comments: Apply the law evenly - to Japanese nationals as well as foreigners - since the only terrorist acts in Japan so far have been by Japanese nationals, and to be successful a terrorist needs to look Japanese, so would more likely steal a Japanese passport, NOT a foreigner's!

Comments: Please do not re-establish fingerprinting for all foreigners entering Japan (including residents). The only thing you will accomplish by doing this is increasing the level of mistrust (already quite high) that many non-Japanese people in Japan have for the Japanese government and people. At the same time, you will decrease the level of respect (already quite low) that many non-Japanese people in Japan have for the Japanese government and its people. Isn't it about time the Japanese government and its people opened Japanese society to accept non-Japanese Your population is dwindling, your economy is flattening out, your culture is dying---why not bring in some foreigners to breathe new life into things There are plenty of examples of this in human history. Sadly, I doubt that any Japanese people will read this. Japan will still keep the doors shut, stubbornly refusing change. Oh well---as you people say, "It can't be helped." Well, actually it could be helped, but that would involve you pulling your heads out of your asses and coming up with a coherent immigration strategy. You won't do that though, will you...at the end of the day, it's Japan's loss, not mine. By the way, I studied Japanese for 12 years and lived in Japan for 4. Making the decision to go live in Japan was one of the best decisions I ever made---I learned so much, and had so many rich and rewarding experiences. But I got tired of it after a while---of the 32 countries I have been to, it is without a doubt the most unwelcoming and cold country I have ever been to. So one day I just picked up and left. It was also one of the best decisions I ever made. Now I am back in my own country. I got my masters and am now working in a well-paying, interesting job. I don't have to work for Japanese anymore---it's really great. I learned another language, and that one is serving me well. I still travel all over the world. Occasionally I even go back to Japan. It's nice to visit, but I would never ever live there again---life is just too short to waste time in such a place with such people. In fact, it wouldn't bother me one bit if I never visited Japan again. So I'm not worried about you assholes taking my fingerprints and treating me like a criminal. It is you people who are criminals for the way you treat non-Japanese. Piss off.

Comments: Foolish in the extreme when Japan could seriously hurt its slowly growing tourist numbers. Not exactly "Yokoso Japan"; it makes the country look small, petty and pathetically unoriginal. I mean, why be tarred with the same brush as America

    Comments: 1.

Comments: I have already been thoroughly "processed" before getting my work visa and alien card. You have even taken my fingerprints in the past for the alien card. If you need to do so, please do it as part of the visa or alien card process, not at the airport. I believe this policy is discriminatory and will only cost you money and not improve security. Please abolish it. I feel it is tantamount to treating me, a long term resident, as a terrorist solely because I am not Japanese.

Comments: Japanese people are so paranoid about foreigners as it is. We should work for cross-cultural understanding, and not a blanket criminalization of an entire class. Treat foreigners as criminals, and you only encourage them to behave as such, for what have they to lose

Comments: Discriminatory and grossly unfair amended immigration law. The Japanese Goverments total indifference to the basic human rights of foreigners is simply disgusting . There will be a facilitated re entry system at Narita for resident foreigners who have pre registered their biometric data in advance - called an automated gate . However at no other International airport in Japan - I have this is in a writing from Kobe Immigration ,letter dated 21/9 . My wife and I have lived in Kobe for 20 years - up to now a 2 minute immigration queue at KIX will now go out to up to 2 hours I'm sure . Why The authorities have had 18 months to get their act together since the law was promulgated on 24th may 2006 . I would pre register my data if allowed to do so ! Comments: Being a permanent resident I don't agree with this taking of finger prints including permanent resident , it will cause a big delay in falling a line along with other foreigners specially with those with children travelling along with them. Japanese spouces also will take a long time waiting for the wives to be out from that long queue.

Comments: As everybody here, I'm wondering why Japanese government decided to take such mesure... If you wnat to take fingerprints, take everybody's ! Doing so will avoid pointing at the foreigners as the eternal wrong doers in Japan, which they are not ! Don't you think Japanese people are racist enough It will become pure xenophobia now
