Alec OdaharaThe Japanese government should not be treating innocent tourists and businessmen as though they are criminals.
Richard HudginsI reject this new law, it amounts to undue harassment and racism against non-Japanese citizens of Japan.
Gordon Osse
Krzysztof RozwadowskiThe priority should get the more permanent residents and visa holders out of this first, but basically either fingerprint everyone in the country or fingerprint noone. I don't see how Japanese people are any less likely to commit crime than foreigners.

Ben ShearonThis new policy is meaningless in terms of fighting terrorism, discriminates against non-Japanese residents of Japan, is a waste of money, and does not address important questions regarding how the information gathered will be stored, used, disseminated, and administered.
James LynchDear Sir/Madam, I respectively ask that you reconsider forcing foreign Permanent Residency holders to provide fingerprints and eye scans when entering Japan. Yours Sincerely, James Lynch

Andrew ClarkeJapan's period of Iosolation ended in the meji period - don't start another one! Don't follow America's lead in worsening relations with non-citizens, its a very shallow and pointless policy decision that only has negative ramifications. Please dont do this!!! Keep Japan as friendly as we all think it is and embrace warm international relationships that will last into the future.

Evan BrankinThis is an absurd law.

Mike SmithDon't finger print foreigners - we are not guilty of anything, except wanting to visit your country. Innocent until proven guilt!
Kevin LimFingerprinting are reserved for criminals.

Charean JacobsThis is discrimination. My husband is Japanese & a permanent resident of Australia. I can't imagine how he would feel if he had to be fingerprinted & photographed every time he entered Australia, a country he owns a home in and pay taxes. Japan needs to join the global community and this is just another step backwards for Japan. Japan is losing its control in Asia and this shows that it is not willing nor able to show global leadership.
AnonymousThe first image of Japan a foreigner will get will be this fingerprint control. Just think of the negative effect on the "Cool power" of Japan... A reputation takes long time to build but just a second to be destroyed. Then, just imagine yourself, being controlled in the same way when you arrive in the European Union, while all the European citizens are excluded from this control... Won't you feel unfairly discriminated?
Ryan Hagglund

AnonymousIt is legitimate to want to protect themselves. But I find it disappointing that Japan uses such a law. Japan could brake economic investment and cultural exchange. It's a shame.
