My 9- year old daughter with special needs was always excited to go to girl scout meetings and events with her troop. She was proud to where her brownie vest, earn badges and sell her cookies. I write "was" because she was recently asked to leave her troop and not return. She was told she could only attend classes held by the Girl Scout office but no troop events, where the pride of earning badges and feeling of belonging really takes place. The official Girl Scout office of montrose told me they would look for a new troop that would be accepting of my daughter with ADHD. I have not heard anything from the Girl Scouts in 2 weeks but I do not want to crush my child's self esteem and morale, so I have not told her. Please help me get the attention of the Girl Scouts by boycotting their cookie sale until they find a troop for "Emily" and all girls with special needs. Lets help the Girl Scouts really empower young girls by teaching these girls discrimination and exclusion is not ok. The Girl Scouts have gotten rid of many girls in the past and no body says anything about it. you can google it. My daughter goes up to all the cookie booths and tells them that she is a Girl Scouts with a huge smile and so proud. It kills me inside to hear this everytime and I am tired of it so I thought I would share it. How are they helping people if they can not except girls with learning disabilty. These girls and parents suffer so much and now the Girl Scouts has also turn there back on these children. Please sign this petition and let the girl scouts know you support Emily and want them to reassign her to a troop now!
