Edinburgh Council have proposed to close Fort Primary School and for the children to go to Trinity Primary School. We challenge the council's facts and figures, both on capacity and of the suggested savings from closing the school. We are against the proposed merger with Trinity - a school already feeling the effects of the closure of Bonnington Primary in 2008 and of its high number of out of catchment placement requests. We feel there is no need to close Fort - there will be little financial saving, it would be of severe detriment to the children at Fort and at Trinity and the school is in an area with a projected population growth so the school roll would be expected to increase in the coming years.
