This petition is to show your support for Sylvia and Kobe. Some of you will know more about the history and ongoing issues surrounding Sylvia and her struggle with the various authorities but a summary is that the social work have informed Sylvia that their latest action is that they are referring her to the Children's Reporter and their recommendation at this point is for Kobe to be placed into Foster Care on the grounds of his behaviour at home, citing such reasons that he still is assisted by Sylvia with such tasks such as dressing, bathing, toileting and sleeping in the same bed. Sylvia has on three previous occasions been referred to the Children's Reporter for Kobe's school attendance and twice it was thrown out by the Children's Panel, the third and most recent occasion it went as far as going to court but it was then thrown out as it came to light that the social work department had not informed the reporter that Kobe at this point was attending school three days a week, which at that point was the agreed attendance plan for Kobe(which was only achieved when the school started to listen to Sylvia and down to Sylvia cooperating fully with the school). This has led to Kobe's attendance gradually increasing although there are still the same issues and daily struggles. It's our belief that after these previous failed attempts to prosecute Sylvia for his school attendance, they are now targeting her and going down another route to try and prosecute her, we feel that due to Sylvia in the past and presently challenging and standing up for herself and Kobe that there is an agenda to now persecute her and have picked a different issue as they can no longer justify reporting her for his school attendance as Sylvia has worked tirelessly to improve this. Kobe has never had a full diagnosis, however both a private and NHS psychologist have issued their belief that Kobe is on the autistic spectrum and in fact the NHS psychologist initiated treatment for this in 2008 by starting Kobe on medication to help his erratic sleeping (he is still on this medication today) and also medication for his behaviour (he was taken off this medication as it was causing side effects such as nose bleeds). Kobe has also been diagnosed by a local NHS educational psychologist as having no concept of time. We are asking you all to sign this petition to show your support for Sylvia, Kobe and the rest of the family as this situation and ongoing struggle is taking its toll on everyone. Everyone was truly shocked to hear that the social work recommendation was Foster Care and are now doing everything possible to fight this, and prove that this is completely an unnecessary and outrageous action and would most definitely not be in Kobe's best interest to take him away from his loving family and home.
