4 ChristinaRousseauAccessible eduction is a right, and it is not a criminal act to demand that it be so. Time and money would be better spent hunting down actual criminals.

6 SOHEILLASHAMSIranian CommunityI thought I am living in a free and democratic country, however, incidents such as this one is an unfortunate reminder that all the talks of “freedom and human rights” are simply, just talks. I ask myself, do we only have an illusion of freedom in this country when it comes to our human rights? Particularly, it is very sad that our young generation experiencing and learning about the injustice in our educational institutions who are suppose to teach them about human rights and the police that are suppose to protect them. My advice for the authorities in these organizations is to practice with justice in your mind and do not destroy the future of these young students. After all, they bravely are fighting for a better future which they rightly deserve. Sincerely, Soheilla Shams, M.S.W., R.S.W.

9 NigelMosesLeo Panitch coined the term the "criminalization of dissent". The recent quasi-criminal charges under the Code of Student Conduct and now these criminal charges, is clearly a prime example of this criminalization of dissent. Abolish Fees Now.

40 JohnCarlawYork University Graduate StudentThe heavy handed and undemocratic handling of these protests and harassment of protesters needs to stop immediately. The Canadian legal system should not be used in this manner. These forms of persecution are unacceptable, particularly for what is to be an institution for "higher" learning in this country.

45 AnonymousAnonymousWhether a protest is focused or not is irrelevant to the greater right of assembly. Trying to stop students from going to class is ridiculous; charging them is unnecessary.

49 HomaBahadouriAll our life we have heard through the western media propaganda that the Brutal & Uncivilized act of cracking down on the university students protest only happens in 3rd world countries. Perhaps University of Toronto senior administration and Toronto Police need a better direction that they are living on Taxes paying by a Democratic Society!!! OR. . . to avoid any further objective demonstrations . . . The Government Has to Declare that Education Once Again is a Luxury and is Only for the Rich!!!
