Comments: I think this is a disgrace, older people are struggling to pay their fuel bills without being penalised further.

Comments: I can't believe that the winter fuel allowance is being cut. After last year's severe winter I would have thought that they would have been thinking of increasing it. When you take into account the ever increasing cost of fuel, both solid and home heating oil, the present allowance is, in itself, a joke!! How many more elderly people have to die from the cold before politicians wake up to the fact that the pension and other allowances are completely out of date and out of sync with the riing cost of living.

Comments: Warmth is vital to life for the elderly and fuel bills have rocketed and will continue to do so, of this there can be no doubt whatsoever. If the current support level is reduced, many older people wil suffer hardship and some will die in consequence.

Comments: Home heating oil is very expensive and continues to rise. Reired, i know how important it is to keep a warm house throughout the year, not just in Winter. We need MORE help, NOT LESS !!!

Comments: This is an irrational decision to reduce the fuel allowance for the most vunerable in society at a time of unprecedented increases in all fuels. Since the link between pensions and earnings OAPs have in reality been subsidising all other sectors of the community - now it is their turn to be supported!!

Comments: In view of the fact that 865+people over 65 died across northern Ireland in 2009/2010 due to cold weather related illnesses in my opinion it is almost criminal to cut the current winter fuel allowance.

Comments: With the rising costs of all fuels it is shamefull even to consider lowering the fuel pensiors receive. As we all know only to well the cost of our weekly shopping is continualy riseing. Good Luck with the campaine

Comments: It's a disgrace that the government do not take fuel poverty and excess winter deaths among the elderly population more seriously. A significant number of older people die from cold related illness each year which could easily be prevented. Given the rise in fuel costs and energy costs the situation will be far worse this year, yet at a time when financial help with fuel costs is needed most it is being cut. How can this be justified?

Comments: It is a disgrace that the WFP is cut as this will certainly lead to increased fuel poverty. The WFP is a lifeline to older people and unfortunately in some circumstances is the difference between life and death.

Comments: As a community adviser visiting people in their homes in my opinion to cut this payment will without any doubt place individuals who are in receipt of welfare benefits in increasing dangers due to cold weather. I see regularly individuals not being able to adequately heat their homes to an acceptible degree and this cut will only make a difficult situation much worse.

Comments: it would appear to me that the most impoverished and vunerable section of U K society are once again easy targets for the Goverment cuts . Considering this section of the community produced the wealth that the bankers and politicians appear to be able to spend with impunity. Shame on the Goverment for attacking those who created the wealth and deserve a fairer share
