FIFA is no longer fit for purpose as the world governing body of football. This has been proven over many years but most recently and alarmingly with the choice of Russia and Qatar as hosts for the 2018 & 2022 World Cup competition. Their members and methods have been shown as dubious, secretive, unaccountable, illogical and disrespectful. Their choices were borne out of the self-interest of the 24 Executive Committee members (2 of whom were suspended for the actual vote due to corruption). Their decisions not based on the merits of each bid or for the good of the game. A new, democratic, forward-thinking world governing body should be formed. This would also enable long-needed rule changes such as the introduction of video replay technology into the game. I propose a straightforward process for the removal of FIFA with the British government taking the lead by suspending the Football Association of England and appointing its own interim FA to oversee the national game. This would lead to FIFA having to suspend the English FA due to government interference. This would allow the interim FA to operate outside of FIFA's jurisdiction and introduce rule changes to the Premier League to show the world of football how much better the game could be. Further steps can follow to form an alternative world governing body (such as Global Football Alliance) and invite FIFA associations to join. An alternative world football tournament could then be held in 2014/2018 but by that time FIFA would be losing its power following the loss of England and other disillusioned countries (e.g. Republic of Ireland, Australia, USA, Spain (current FIFA World Champions), Portugal, Japan, South Korea, Mexico) from the world game. Once FIFA has been disbanded the alternative Global Tournament can be rebranded as the GFA World Cup. Please indicate your support (from wherever in the world of football you may be).
