Staff at Macquarie University have installed in every staff room their own filtered water coolers and there are only 2 for the entire student population and there are 2,711 staff members and 37,920 students! A recent student-led survey by the student group Plastic Free found that 98% of students would use the filtered water fountains and a third of students purchase water bottles on campus because they forget to bring their own water bottles from home. A few students also purchase water bottles on campus because there are not enough places to fill their water bottles (besides the toilet tap). Help us make it fair for students! Sign this petition to install filtered water fountains throughout the university in prominent places where students regularly attend including food outlets! By signing this petition, I request the university to change the way we drink on campus. I want Macquarie University to: Install filtered water fountains so students can fill up our water bottles with pure, filtered water for FREE throughout the campus in easily accessible locations especially where food including vending machines are available.
