Comments: This matter must be investigated--multiple witnesses offered testimony to the police which was ignored. Please do your utmost to determine the circumstances behind this terrible senseless death of a woman and mother in her prime.

Comments: There are many reasons why I sign this petition. An independent investigation is crucial in this matter, my understanding is that the SUV was driven by a police officer, therefore there is a significant conflict of interest if investigated by the police. On a second matter, there needs to be greater attention paid to drivers who drive recklessly in NYC. So many times I've been close to being hit by drivers who force their way turning into streets, almost to 'beat' the pedestrians who have right of way to cross it. I see countless drivers every day running through lights that are clearly red. And I've just started to ride the streets on a bike, with my children, but I have grave concerns doing so, because of the lack of attention and consideration by many drivers. It is time NYC introduce more red light cameras and other measures that aim to reduce reckless driving. This is such a tragedy as is any death on the roads. I feel for her loss (not seeing her children grow up) and her family's ...what an absolute waste of life, for what justification/purpose!

Comments: I was a friend of Aileen's and the depth of this tragedy is only deepened by the mishandling and obfuscation of the facts by the original police investigation. The fact that a government agent was involved - covert or not- together with the clear witness statements that were discouraged by the police cries out for an investigation.
