Name: Tim Atkinson on Aug 1, 2008Comments: The removal of the Lochboisdale-Mallaig ferry has seriously prejudiced business development in the Uists. The re-introduction of this service, preferably on a daily or twice daily basis, will provide the infrastructure necessary to assist with the realisation of the business and tourist potential within the Uists.Flag

Name: Linda Mackinnon on Jun 26, 2009Comments: We really enjoyed travelling Barra to Mallaig years ago when we were going on holiday down south. It was much handier than Oban. We could drive the car to Ft Wm and leave the car in a long term space beside the station then get the Caledonian sleeper to London. It was great when the children were little and I was travelling on my own with them. Even if the Mallaig link did not connect to Barra I would go on the wee ferry to Uist and take the Mallaig ferry from Lochboisdale.Flag

Name: Angus MacKellaig on Jul 27, 2009Comments: I feel that it is ridiculous that you have to take a long road journey through Skye and North Uist to get to Lochboisdale if you wish to avoid the long sea journey from Oban (usually via Barra). A much shorter journey from Mallaig would save on time, fuel costs, convenience and relieve congestion at Oban. On our last three three return trips we have experienced late departures, or waits on the ferry in the bay at Oban beacuse of problems at the Oban terminal, and this was only in the last month.Flag

Name: Margaret McDowall on Sep 29, 2009Comments: It would be much easier for those who travel from the south of the country i.e. England to have access to the Mallaig to Lochboidsdale route. It is faster and one does not have to negotiate the long drive to Uig in Sky for the Uist ferry that entails another long drive to get from North Uist to South Uist.. It would be more cost efective for the users.Flag

Name: Chas Hollis on Mar 16, 2010Comments: I am planning to relocate to South Uist in 2010. A shorter ferry crossing to Lockboisdale and access to Fort Williame would be a great assett. This would avoid the very long drive via Skye to Inverness.Flag

Quicker, easier routes in evey sense for localities, and importantly will also bring even MORE passengers to and from. A welcomed proposed marina, an already upgraded mainland road along this stunning coast,.. just need a boat!Flag
