Feral Cats do not ask for anything except alittle food. We do TNR work and have been doing so since before Hurricane Katrina. We place as many cats as possible, and the ones we can't we continue to feed. However, the city of Kenner, La is now issueing citations to people who feed any cat that is not their own. Many of these cats survied the hurricane, we call them survivors of the storm, now they deserve to be left alone to continue their lives in peace. Everyday it seems cats show up somewhere. Some come declawed, some come already fixed. When they are tame enought we find them homes. We do more than our part in helping to control the cat population and all we are asking for is be able to continue to feed them.A starving animal is a suffering animal. Shelters are so overloaded with unwanted animals and pets that people can no longer afford to feed. That is why we step up and do what we do. It's b/c of people like us thats shelter numbers drop causing alittle less dollar on the public. And cats numbers on the street decrease. If 1 cat has 4 babies, then those 4 babies have 4 babies, then...the cycle never ends. We step in and break that cycle before it happens. We just want to be able to continue to watch over them and feed them after. The city of Kenner was so happy to see us step up to the situation after Katrina and thanked us, but now want us to trap and not feed. What do they want the cats to starve to death, we want to make sure that never happens.
