Food is a necessity of life. A better Dining and Auxiliary Services is a necessity of a reborn Sweet Briar.

The administrations of the past made the misguided effort of eliminating an award winning dining program at Sweet Briar College, and replaced it with an outsourced food service program which has not held the high standards that Sweet Briar held since its inception.

At the dawn of a new era, the administration and directors of Sweet Briar have the opportunity to explore the possibility of bringing back this high standard of quality which will not only see to the nourishment of our students, but the nourishment of the well being of our greater community.

We have the opportunity, as the greater Sweet Briar Community, to tell our administration, that we feel that dining and auxiliary services plays a vital role in the marketability of the college.

We have the opportunity, as the greater Sweet Briar Community, to tell our administration, that the exploration of returning to in-house dining will reestablish a sense of community that has been greatly lacking since these services were outsourced.

We have the opportunity, as the greater Sweet Briar Community, to tell our administration, that the Florence Elston Inn and Conference Center, can quickly become a profitable asset, providing additional revenue to the College rather than having it outsourced.

We have the opportunity, as the greater Sweet Briar Community, to tell our administration, that in house dining and auxiliary services can provide new partnerships with the community, new potential programs such as farm-to-table options which will only aid in the marketability of our fine school.

We only ask that before making a final decision, that the administration look at the in house dining and auxiliary proposal and sit down with its' authors to discuss its viability, and if necessary, explore changes to find an equitable solution that benefits the Sweet Briar Community as a whole.

At Sweet Briar, the impossible is just another problem to solve. We humbly ask to have the opportunity to solve this problem.
