Name: Misty Pony on Sep 8, 2002State:Country: IEComments: I am in control of my life. It belongs to me. I do NOT want to have any children! I want to stay CHILDFREE! This world already has too many humans in it. 180 more are added every minute. Too many humans will turn this world into a gigantic city with lots of pollution and huge crowds. That will NOT be pretty! To end the problems of crowds and pollution, here is the best solution:For humans to STOP HAVING SO MANY BABIES! Then, for sure,(not just maybe)there'll be less crowding and less pollution, too. And the world will be a better place for me and you.Flag

As a childless adult I am locked out of so many services that I forget to keep count-but being locked out of an education based on familial status is flat-out discriminatory.Flag

Name: Beth Brownell on Sep 9, 2002State: MOCountry: USComments: I believe if the goverment wants people to be responsible and those people who do not have kids cannot get this grant cause they have money to spare for later problems could be for medical or if they lost a job. I think those people who do the RIGHT THING by not having kids and going for their college education should not be penalized for it. Those people are the ones who should get this grant. If they do not do this, then please create a new Grant for those who do not have kids and yet have the desire to get their college education and become very responsible adults.Flag

There are plenty of low-income singles without children who would like to attend college, as well, but are not eligible for any grants. I find it strange that people who choose not to have children for any reason are penalized by being denied help with further education.Flag

I can swing the community college tuition on my own but I will need help with the tuition at my local university. By the way, none of the Seattle Community Colleges even participates in the Federal Student Loan program. If I had a kid, this would be a non-issue.Flag

Name: Elli Edy on Sep 9, 2002State: FLCountry: USComments: Denying people financial aid for education based upon reproductive status is a ludicrous form of discrimination. Education is the backbone of our society, producing a skilled workforce for our country. No one should be denied an education, particularly for not having children! It is absurd, and it is discrimination against a large segment of our culture based solely upon a biological trait - a description that matches racism and sexism in its wrongness.Flag
