Comments: Leave downtown the way it is!!! We don't need our federal government coming into downtown Harrisburg, destroying our state capitol, almost making it a "3rd World City" by destroying the economic viability, closing businesses and eliminating jobs during a time when it's already a hard to survive and raise our families. You will end up with so many people on unemployment and welfare, you can take the welfare reform bill and toss it the wolves, and further hurt state and your own economic status by having to "take care of your own" due to foolish choices- save money and our State Capitol by building your court house at Sixth and Reily instead! Federal government should NOT have the right to just walk in and take over - PERIOD!!!

Comments: I am a Commerce customer and am in support of keeping Commerce downtown as it is. Build the courthouse on the Sixth & Reily site for NEW development and not tear down an established business.

Comments: I am not sure of the benefit to having the court house on Second Street. But the detriments seem fairly obvious. The acquisition of the property would: 1) Remove several business from downtown. 2) Remove Taxable real estate Downtown and Dauphin County. 3) Cost more taxpayer money to acquire either properties on Second Street. The acquisition of the properties would include the cost of real estate and lost revenues to all business displaced. 4) Disrupt the economic development on Second Street that was a focus of the Harrisburg Reginional Chamber of Commerce, City of Harrisburg, Downtown Improvement District and several other non profits.

Comments: I find it hard to believe that there are no other options for the placement of the federal courthouse. I agree with other petitioners; businesses downtown should not be displaced. The arguments presented make sense. Officials need to re-evaluate their plan and come up with an alternative that limits disruption to major business and residential sections. The courthouse needs to be in an accessible location, not necessarily a prime location.

Comments: I don't believe that the government should be able to come in to any town and decide where they want to put a courthouse. They should have to find an available place just like any other business out there.
