One slip-up is certainly human; but repeat and easily predictable sloppy behaviour is just a smear on the FDCC. For all that Robin has done to build up both the FDCC and Fashion Week, it is time for her to go off into the sunset.Flag

Name: Janice King on Oct 28, 2008Comments: Having read the last email that was sent out, free speech and the right to protest is a part of our constitution. If the FDCC wants to challenge this petition they would be infringing upon the constitutional rights of anyone who wants to voice their opinion. The fact they have removed voting rights for members which is against the policies of operating not for profit associations in Canada shows the only opinion that counts is their own.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Oct 29, 2008Comments: As a Toronto designer that has never shown at Fashion Week due to the stale attitude it always seams to take, we do feel that a new direction is in order. We have been waiting patiently for the event to take on a new life and showcase new and boutique designers rather than the same old standbys. It is such a sad state when to be recognized by the Toronto industry you need to be successful elsewhere first. We fully support new leadership in the FDCC to be elected by its members.Flag

Name: Sparky on Oct 29, 2008Comments: It seems the FDCC has become a cosy club to a select few that wreaks of fashion cronyism. As Ms. Weiss says , what industry body does not hold elections Maybe time to revue the whole lot on the board. The local industry is on life support as I see it , and will need a very different and fresh approach in order for any type of healthy continuance. Showing up for the premiere fashion event piss drunk is a poor reflection on Toronto and the FDCC and those on the board alongside Robin.Flag

Duty of Care of Directors and Officers (Clause 149) Clause 149(1) of the NPCA imposes a duty of care on directors and officers identical to that found in for-profit corporate statutes. Under the legislation, directors and officers performing their duties must: exercise the care, diligence and skill that a reasonably prudent person would exercise in comparable circumstances. According to the law the FDCC may not have a choice but to terminate Miss Kay’s position on the board and as an officer .Flag

Name: Anonymous on Nov 6, 2008Comments: As a participant of Toronto Fashion Week in the past, I agree we need a change. We have some of the most talented designers in the world with no support. It seems the FDCC is a social group that lets in who they choose to, rather than operating as a support system for the designers and encouraging them in the world market. There is no support in getting us editorials in our own home magazines, or into retailers such as Holts. I agree, Toronto Fashion Week has the potential to grow, but not with the same elitist group at the top who only promote within themselves and give nobody else a chance. It is a shame that you can be in the same room with somebody multiple times, have conversations with them, give them your $10000 for a fashion show, and she cannot even say hi to you when she sees you outside of fashion week. This is my experience with Robin Kay. This is wrong. As head of a council such as this, she should be there to nurture and support, not snub. I have attended other fashion weeks in the world and have been treated better by people I do not even know than by her which seems very odd to me. She does not represent the true Canadian spirit.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Nov 6, 2008Comments: I hope that the FDCC will take this as an opportunity to make itself a more opportunistic arena, and to input an election process. There is a time and place for everything, and while you are working is definitely not it for drinking. The actions of Ms. Robin Kay have stirred feelings from people within the fashion industry, and hopefully the end result will be a positive one.Flag

Name: Tanya on Jul 30, 2011Comments: I am just preparing for my fall fashion show and I can't get a straight answer out of anyone. After years of doing it offsite, I decided that I might want to show with LG Fashion Week. What a disaster. No calls back, no solid info, no schedule and they wanted 10K! WTF is all the sponsorship money for if they want that kind of money from the struggling design community. I was at her 'drunken' speech and she is an embarrassment to Toronto and Canada. It makes us look terrible. There is no way I am going to support a 'non profit' (Right! LOL) organization with no member and the fashion mafia at the helm. Someone needs to crack this organization wide open and see if for what it really is - a has been retailer taking money from the fashion community. I will be showing off-site again this year.Flag
