FCPS SPRING SPORTS PETITION

With this petition, we the undersigned, as parents of the students/team members of Fairfax County Spring Sports are in support of Fairfax County Public Schools playing on Tuesday, April 3, 2007 and Wednesday, April 4, 2007.

We are aware that the current spring schedule has "NO PLAY" dates of Tuesday, April 3rd and Wednesday, April 4th due to Jewish holidays. This point of contention only waives the rule for those students traveling 50 miles or more outside of Fairfax County. Therefore, only schools that can afford to travel can play on those specific dates.

We respect and understand the sensitivity in honoring these dates and furthermore believe that no team member that observes these holiday's will be expected to play nor shall he/she be penalized. The decision to play should be left to those particular individuals/parents.

However, in all fairness, those students who are able to participate on Tuesday, April 3rd and Wednesday, April 4th should be allowed to play regardless of the 50-mile radius.

We believe that this change will be extremely beneficial to the team members of all Fairfax County Public School spring sports teams.
