| 5 | Kelly O'Connell | This is the ONLY area I've lived in that does'nt have a dog park. I think that this is basically because the area is behind the rest of the country in progress by about 20 yrs. I'd be glad to research other dog parks or do whatever I can to help this cause. It not only gives dogs a chance to interact, but dog owners have a chance to make friends and have somethng in common. Even Prescott, AZ (pop. 50,000) has a dog park! Frequenters of the park raised money for a nice, large tree and picnic tables. Poop bags were available, although most people brought their own. There were two sides; one for small dogs and one for large dogs. Photographers would come out and take pictures and sell to the owners for a small fee. Other pictures were hung on the fence. As you can see, the park had a lot of interactment to keep it nice, clean and fun. As I said, I'll help in any way I can!!! Thanks! Kelly O'Connell |

Most parks do not allow unneutered male dogs and females in heat at dog parks. Fayetteville should follow this rule.
Dog parks can be small! Take a look at the numerous dog parks in Manhattan. If a park is too big, owners can lose site of their dogs - making control more difficult. There should also be an enclosed park dedicated to small dogs only. |

| 17 | Anonymous | Thank you Mr. Eilers for having this important agenda on your mayoral campaign. I've found it pathetic a city of Fayetteville's size lacks dog parks, and even the one at the animal shelter is never publicized. Besides, my dog was at the Fayetteville animal shelter before I adopted him and frankly I don't want to have to take him back there to play because I'm sure he wasn't happy in the little cage he was at before I rescued him and who knows what smells or memories going back might cause. I'm writing this because I take my dog on walks at city parks where cars aren't a threat but still keep him on leash. And I find it hypocritical for the city to put up "clean up after your dog signs with bags", which I do grab in case he has an accident in front of someone's house. But to be honest I don't clean up after him when he craps on the lawn of a city-owned park. Sometimes people will make comments about that but why should I clean up on a city-owned property in a city that has shown no vision towards dogs and their owners to do something for them.
I argue this should have happened years ago. I've lived in Fayetteville since 2003 and brought home my dog shortly after and was stunned there wasn't a legitimate dog park in town. I drove my dog to and from California to see my family and in Midland, Texas -Midland!- the city has a gorgeous fenced-park that must be the size of a football field. And yes when my dog dropped a deuce on the grass there I did pick up after him!!!!!!!!!!!
I sent Mayor Coody an e-mail four years ago asking why there weren't real dog parks in Fayetteville and looking back I received the standard "we're looking into it and understand the need" response. Yeah right. Obviously that wasn't followed up on much.
But for the sake of my fellow residents a city of roughly 60,000 needs at least two dog parks that are conveniently located, fully fenced in to let your pets unleashed where they can socialize with other dogs and in a clean, safe environment. I don't think that's too much ask in a city that touts itself as progressive but in reality is miles behind other communities of similar size across the country.
Thank you |

| 20 | Anonymous | we love how our town supports responsible dog ownership, and fun for all at the parks.. lets keep this beautiful and happy city, beautiful free and happy.
a dog park can really help with leash free activities and people are happy to pay a $1-3. fee per year to help upkeep the park usually.. |

| 24 | Bill Herring | Lake Wilson is too far out of town. We have plenty of space for a fenced off-leash park in one of several town parks. The cost of development is relatively minor and can be offset by donations. Fayetteville needs to catch up with other progressive cities and establish a dog park that is within easy reach of the people living in town. |
| 25 | Victoria Sowder | Dog parks are an increasingly valued enhancement to the urban lifestyle. With our emphasis on infill, smaller lawns, and less sprawl, a dog park for Fayetteville is of increasing importance to our maintaining our leadership as an attractive small city in which to live. |
| 26 | Erica Asfahl | Fayetteville is long overdue for a GOOD dog park. And I do believe that the avid supporters would pay a small annual fee to support the dog park. |
