Name: Vicki Mountjoy on Sep 8, 2003State: NMCountry: USComments: My husband and I are about to lose our grandaughter for the fourth time in the past year and a half, because her mother is AGAIN running away with her to Texas at the drop of a hat. We have helped my son and his girlfriend and her son and our granddaughter move into three houses and within three months the girlfriend is unhappy with some little thing and runs to family in Texas with the kids and leaves our son broken hearted until he follows to be in his daughters life, and again after a few months the mom is unhappy with something where they are and we get a phone call to please help them move back, we are always promised by the mom that this will be the last time. But once again it is happening. Only this time she has involved the police which threatened my son to come down on him with full force if he stood in her way. So, am I to understand that there is nothing we can do to make her at least stay in the stateFlag

Name: Beth Miller on Nov 7, 2003State:Country:Comments: I think thats a horrible and ridiculous petition and the mother should be given custody when the baby is born. She is the one who had to give up her life and carry the child for 9 months. What you will end up doing with that petition is giving rights to fathers who dont deserve them. The main reason that there are so many unmarried mothers in this world is because the father has abandoned the mother and child and then suddenly once he realizes he will still have to pay support for the child then he tries to get custody to further hurt the mother. Even if he is not responsible or capable of taking care of a child for any length of time. Yes it is good for children to have fathers but especially when they are babies they need their mothers and children also only need loving unselfish fathers. Ones who think about their childrens wellbeing instead of only about what they want.Flag

Name: Keri Lundquest on Nov 18, 2003State: AZCountry: USComments: What about the mother who wanted the father's to be in their children's life And when she moves on and makes more money he files to get Sole custody and tells everyone that she is an unfit mother Do you honestly think that all father's are fit to take the children away from the mothers Think about that one.Flag

Name: WILLIE AND TANYA KNIGHTON II on Nov 23, 2003State: GACountry: USComments: WE HAVE FOUR CHILDREN THAT WE CAN'T SEE BECAUSE THEIR MOTHERS USE THEM AS A WEAPON ,FOR SOME REASON THEY ARE FOOLED TO THINK THAT FATHERS HAVE TO PAY TO SEE THEIR CHILDREN THESE DAYS .I'M A STEP MOTHER TO ALL FOUR OF THESE KIDS AND I LOVE THEM JUST LIKE I LOVE THE ONES I BIRTHED. WHAT I DON'T UNDERSTAN IS WHY DO THE COURTS LET THESE WOMEN WAIT UNTILL THE MAN LEAVE THEM BEFORE THEY GO TO TREATING THE FARTHERS LIKE THEY ARE AT THE MOVIES. I FILL THAT ALL RIGHTS ARE EQUAL ,WHEN IT COMES TO SUPPORTING CHILDREN. I HAVE EVEN OFFERED ONE OF THE PARENTS TO LET ME HAVE CUSTODY OF THE KIDS WITH OUT HER HAVING TO PAY CHILD SUPPORT OR ANYTHING SHE DON'T WANT TO DO,AND SHE STILL COULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO SEE THE CHILDREN WHEN EVER SHE PLEASES ,BUT SHE SAID NO. THAT LET ME KNOW THAT SHE IS INTENTIONALLY KEEPING THOSE CHILDREN AWAY FROM US.SHE DON'T HAVE A PLACE TO LIVE,SHE LIVES WITH HER MOTHER AND SISTER IN A TWO BEDROOM HOUSING APARTMENT SHE HAS FIVE KIDS HER SISTER HAVE THREE AND THE STATE THINK IT'S ALRIGHT ,WELL I DON'T.Flag

Name: Lora Karsjens on Nov 25, 2003State: MNCountry: USComments: My first grandchild was born this year. My son and the mother of his child are not together. My son has no rights to his son. Minnesota Law states, as it stands from the 1950's, that he is a criminal in the eyes of the law for having had sexual relations with an unmarried woman. My son has no rights to his son unless he petitions the court for them. The only rights he has been given by the court so far is the right to pay all the bills. My grandchild is 9 months old. My son is "allowed" to see him for 3 hours on Tuesday's and Thursday's and every other Sunday for 4 hours. I never understood why there were so many dead beat dads in our State, but now I do. These father's have the "privalege" of paying to keep their children away from them. I hope someone will see the injustice of the "system" and do something about it - soon!Flag
