Name: Robert P. Blount on Apr 16, 2008Comments: Many of the Ivy League Schools actually own companies and corporations that are quite profitable. These profits go toward funding the university itself, or the universitys endowment, etc. Perhaps its time for FAMU to invest in its future, by acquiring a Pharmacy Retail Franchise of its own; like the Medicine Shoppe, for example. Through such a partnership, this store could not only generate monies for FAMUs Pharmacy School, but what an excellent employment opportunity for licensed graduates of the pharmacy school to practice and what a great training ground for the pharmacy students. All of which could run the operation, combining the technical book knowledge with on the job training. With the appropriate marketing, such an entity could be packaged as scholarships w/ internship requirements etc. Its time to think out of the box and create our own destiny. These students must do their rotations and interns somewhere, why not a FAMU owned Pharmacy. Im glad to assist Dr. Ammons and Staff with putting together this venture. Who knows there could be a store in Tallahassee and one in Tampa to support the Pharmacy School here, in Tampa, also.Flag

Name: Charles Lyles on Apr 16, 2008Comments: Gov. Charlie Crist, What happens to a dream deferred As the great champion of education you are, I dont have to tell you the value of increased access to our states premier programs. I know that you know that opening these doors wider will go a long way towards keeping Florida one of the top states in quality of life. Many, if not most, of the graduates of this program stay right here in Florida providing a needed service to the community. With this in mind I ask that you find a way for FAMU to secure these funds for the next phase of this drastically needed project. For the sake of FAMU, which also means, for the sake of our great state, we need your support Governor Crist. Charles Lyles Alumnus and member of FAMU NAAFlag
