Name: Matthew McGraw on Apr 19, 2007Comments: It is disgraceful that we as taxpayers subsidize these faith-based groups. They depend on the same fire, police, and emergency personnel we all do. They take advantage of the roads and national parks. They do this AS ORGANIZATIONS, not just as individuals. It's time to change this arcane practice. Peace.Flag

Name: Daniel Hedley on Apr 23, 2007Comments: I don't want my government to support ideas and organizations that promote ideas that replace critical thinking with dogma! ...also known as religion. I believe that charities that have no agenda to indoctrinate the beneficiaries of it's services SHOULD have tax benefits, but churches invariably have a second agenda: creating converts.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Apr 23, 2007Comments: Churches not paying taxes is a clear breech of church and state. Why the state gives special treatment to religious organizations funneling in MILLIONS without ever having a dime spent to go back into the economy baffles me. As long as you have a $35 license, a tax-free business loan and some land you too can preach anything you want, grow into a millionaire and never be required to pay taxes. It's wrong. Churches should WANT to pay tax money to help the poor, the uninsured, the defenseless but they do not. This is a long overdue imperative change that should have been made years ago.Flag
