Comments: To begin with, I am certain there is a huge amount of Aboriginal history in this beautiful area. I know the local Aboriginal community would not approve of its development. This sight is also of major importance to the history of colonisation on the Central Coast. There is a cemetery there, and a homestead dating back 150 years! Future generations need to be able to see what life was like for the first setttlers of the Central Coast. This place is a perfect school excursion destination! Especially now that Old Sydney Town is no longer. History is of extreme importance to humanity. From history we learn. I am certain there is a huge amount of Aboriginal history in this beautiful area as well. This place needs to be preserved for educational & environmental purposes. Beauty, nature, life & history far outway the cash benefits of development.

Comments: Fairview is a link to our past, in a beautiful valley that has changed relatively little since the days of the pioneer settlers. It must be saved as a reminder to future generations.

Comments: It is Gosford council's responsibility to do all it can to retain this important property which tells the story of the settlement of Gosford LGA. The land on which it is situated was first held by John Jenkins peacock, noted first generation white australian (The son of an Irish and English convict) who rose to prominence as a trader in the early colony and became one of the Councillors on Sydney Councils inagural Council. Reference is made to "Peacock;s farm in Lt Warner's first traversing of the track which became know as Simpson's track. Ref Lt Warner's notes! Council also has funded a Heritage assessmnet which stresses the importance of retention of this site AND its heritage listing. Arguments about NOT allowing access to the catchment are not well founded considering precedents at Warragamba dam and Lake Cargellico. etc Nor is the site Bushfire prone (see my submissions to GCC when the demolition was first raised.. Gosford Council should demonstrate its own commitment to heritage conservation as well as expecting other owners of listed property to do so

Comments: We are losing too many historicbuildings for lack of money and interest in our heritage by all levels of Government. Peolpe are the only ones now who can make a difference to get governments of all levels to take notice.

Comments: The friends of fairview business plan is sound and retaining the property will cost council little if any money. If the council can squander ratepayers money on high risk overseas investments surely it can also save one building.

Comments: As this is the remaining property of its time and the Andrews family were one of the pioneering families in the lower Mangrove/Greengrove region is reason enough to give serious consideration to preserving this property for future generations. Warren Andrews puts foward many valid ideas for how the property could be used for tourist and historical reasosn which would help to make it self supporting.

Comments: How can we develop a sense of loyalty, pride, respect and understanding of our local area to our children if our leaders destroy the history that is around them? The best way we can have the future generations learn to be great leaders is to teach them their history. Letting sites such as Fairview go to ruins can only be an example of disrespect. Children learn by an example.. this is not the example that we want them to emulate.

Comments: I assert that Fairview has intrinsic historic and cultural value, particularly now that it is one of the last buildings left standing in this previously significant valley. As a member of a " first-fleeter " family , with anscestors who lived in the Dubbo Gully area I feel strongly that cultural materials ( including dwellings ) from ALL layers of society should be valued and preserved where-ever possible.
