Hi, i am looking to start a petition to get more support from the Government. Kidney patients on dialysis get nothing for the life saving treatment they have to receive in order to lead a normal life... We get £135 every other week plus the maximum housing benefits if you live alone which is around £300 a month. This is a total of £570 a month which is nothing to live of off in this growing economy. I am on PD dialysis which means i can carry out my life saving treatment at home. This i have to do four times a day up to 45minutes a time. Amoungst dialysis i have to take other medicines both oral and injections daily and weekly. This means i am entitled to mid rate care from Disability Living Allowance. Which will give me more support both for my independence and financially so i could lead a normal life. But they and declined me twice even though i meet their guild lines that they have set for DLA. I am 25 and did not ask for this illness like many in my position. When you have a disease that eats away at your organs people do not see it therefore feel your unaffected. With kidney disease comes many other problems that all have to be controlled. I want to raise the concern that most patients on dialysis did not bring there illness on them self's unlike alcoholic and drug users yet the support for kidney patients is limited and alcoholic and drug users are entitled to every little bit of help there is to offer. I would like people to get involved and help the many people like myself and get them the help they deserve to lead a "NORMAL" life!
