Name: Crissy Scott on May 13, 2009Comments: I strongly agree with the 10 point grading scale. It not only allows our children to be more competitve when it comes to college placement but it also helps their self esteem. It is also a strong motivator for kids if they see themselves doing well in their classes, which a 3-4 point difference will make.Flag

Name: Cheryl L. Maurer on May 13, 2009Comments: Being a military family and having our children transfer to different school systems, the grading scale has become an important issue. Our daughter, who is a Freshman and has an IEP, found it very difficult to adapt to the 6-point grading scale of Virginia Beach schools. All of the previous school systems that she had been in (Anne Arundel Co., MD and Poway Unified, CA) had a 10-point grading scale. Our concern, like so many others, is how it will affect our children getting into college. Please consider changing the grading scale to help our children have a better chance of continuing their education and having greater success.Flag

Name: Joan Pleasants on May 13, 2009Comments: This should be made retroactive for all of our current high school students who have recieved lesser grades and GPA"s overe the course of thier studies. Otherwise they will not be able to fairly compete for college entrance and scholarships.Flag

Name: H. Loyd Bohlinger on May 13, 2009Comments: If the rest of the country as well as Northern Virginia have the 10 point scale, than it puts our students at a disadvantage with the current system. This seems like a simple fix to an ongoing problem!Flag

Name: Denise LaSalle on May 13, 2009Comments: We have lived in a number of states and school districts around the country - this is the only place without the 10 pt grading scale. Also, colleges (including Virginia colleges) use the 10 pt scale. The scale we currently use makes no sense.Flag
