Name: Sascha on Feb 24, 2009I support Fair Fares because: I think it is ridiculous that postgraduate students have to pay full fare because most of us are full-time students, and do not have the funds to spend $50 per week on public transport when our weekly income is less than $400! The other states have it right - Victoria should follow suit!Faculty, University: University of MelbourneFlag

Name: Jo-Anne Britt on Feb 24, 2009I support Fair Fares because: As a part time student with four children, I must work to help support my family. As I live in a regional area I regularly take the train to University sessions. The cost of this in peak hour is expensive, added to the fact that I must also drive 25 minutes before I reach the train station. My children live more than 4.8 km from their schools and receive full bus subsidy. Why do I, who live over 100km from university, not get a subsidyFaculty, University: Education, Melbourne University.Flag

Name: Sophie Sturup on Feb 24, 2009I support Fair Fares because: Many post graduate students are living off scholarships which place them on low incomes and cannot afford to pay full fares. Name: Libby Smith on Feb 24, 2009I support Fair Fares because: Postgraduate students are training for the benefit of the country, not only themselves. Their income is severely limmited and being older, they often have responsibilities such as families to care for. Since universities are accessable by public transport, students should be encouraged to use it, rather than to drive.Faculty, University: Medicine, University of MelbounreFlag

Name: Anonymous on Feb 24, 2009I support Fair Fares because: -as an international student, I am limited to working 20 hours a week, so I already have a limited income, plus supporting myself, where many students on concession cards are allowed to work as much as they desire and still live at home or are supported by their parents. -What exactly makes a graduate student so much different than undergraduate student Enough money to support themselves comfortably Not usually; many are in the same exact financial situation they were as undergraduates, or worse, if they have begun to support themselvesFaculty, University: Arts, University of MelbourneFlag
