This petition is to make facebook deactivate the feature which allows the sender of a private message to see if the recipient has read the message. This will affect many relationships in the world, and will make the "chase" that men and women crave less desirable. For example, say if a guy likes a girl he sends her a message on say December 1. He'll know right away that she read the message on December 1, but of course she won't respond on December 1. She might respond a week later, or never at all. So now this new features take the element of benefit of the doubt out of the equation. If the sender doesnt actually know the message has been read, he could console himself or a friend can console him/her with lines like "Maybe his/her cat died, and she is mourning her death" or "Maybe he hasnt been checking his facebook of late" (even though your close friend list shows there activity is rather high, cause they are "liking" every photo and link they see. This feature needs to be disabled RIGHT AWAY or else a lot of lives will be hurt!
