We, the undersigned United States citizens call on both houses of Congress to extend the Mortgage Debt Relief Act of 2007 through at least December 31, 2013. Allowing homeowners to modify their mortgage or complete a short sale is meaningless if they may owe tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars to the IRS. Congress must act immediately to extend the Mortgage Debt Relief Act in order to provide homeowners with certainty about their options going forward in 2013.
