Name: Thomas Blackburn on Nov 20, 2007Comments: why if we stun the animals, so they feel no pain is that wrong/ yet when you come to kill the animal so that it is ready to be used a s hala meat it is subject toa slow and painfull death how can anybody say that this is a more 'humane' way of killing these poor animals

Name: Gavin Hudson on Nov 20, 2007Comments: The correct treatment of animals for the means of human consumption has never been addressed. The slaughtering of animals should be carried out in humane manner with the minimal of suffering. Allowing animals to die slowly from the loss of blood is not humane. I wouldn't wish this sort of death on my worst enermies. Let's have some respect for the creatures that walk this planet apart from ourselves! Celebrating the provision of food is one thing, blatent ruthless to causing pain is something else.

Name: Anonymous on Dec 31, 2007Comments: Dear sir, I am currently a Veterinary Student at the Royal Veterinary College and I would like to point out that Halal Slaughter has been proven to be extremely cruel and painful for animals. Research presented to the Government has proven that the non-stunning of animals creates unnecessary pain, especially to animals such as cows, which still get vertebral blood supply to the brain, even after the throat has been cut. The animals can remain conscious for up to 10 seconds. So are we going to accept Halal meat for the sake of religion, whilst causing so many animals such futile pain Aren't they a part of God's creation as well Regards, Janet Randich
