Name: Anonymous on Mar 7, 2007Comments: Another year of increasingly repressive regulations, which will only have the effect of making people more resistant to following them. It is, quite simply, unreasonable to ban the spraying of champagne and use of glitter following the conclusion of the most psychologically challenging academic exercise that it's possible to undertake at a British university. Everything else might be negotiable, but Oxford is a student city, and should recognise that high spirits at the end of the summer term i.e. once a year are a legitimate and hardly antisocial part of that. I can think of other things the Council 'wastes' money on - cleaning a street once a year shouldn't come so high on their list. Lighten up.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Mar 7, 2007Comments: I do not necessarily believe that a tolerance zone is needed because I realise the mess made is costly to clean up and seen as a waste of money but I think that we should be allowed to at least take un-opened bottles with us to give to people when they come out. It's tradition to give people champagne or something and I think the end of exams will be a bit of an anti-climax if all we can do is give flowers or something. Also, bar the fact that some people litter the ground with corks, spraying people with Cava doesn't really make a mess does it And as long as it all gets sprayed then no-one will be drinking it so wouldn't be breaking the law...Flag
