We understand that the school board has voted for a "no sale" of the items within Ewing Park School because they are deemed as having "no value". We disagree. For those of us that spent our childhood years at Ewing Park School, it holds a multitude of memories for each and every one of us. We feel as residents of Ellwood City, and the school district that our voices need to be heard. There are several items inside the school that would be of great value to us as alumni, even though they may seem that they are of no value to anyone else. We would like an opportunity to get the items that are of value to us, before everything is destroyed. You cannot put a "price tag" on childhood memories. There are over 120 alumni that are willing to purchase items from the school. We are all willing to sign a waiver releasing anyone from responsibility for us if we are allowed to enter the school for a short time and collect a few items that are precious to us all. Please reconsider allowing us to get the items that we want before everything is destroyed. Once the school is gone, it's gone forever and so are the memories inside. If it is safe enough for the district workers to enter, then we, as adults should be allowed one last walk through to gather some items. Thank you for your consideration. We would all like to remember the Ellwood School District as a district that cared about it's students, past and present.
