Comments: The proposed system is a terrible standard to be setting. I can only imagine the shock students would feel when entering the real world.

Comments: I have been in the education field for 40 years and this policy saddens me greatly. Last year I visited schools in Taiwan where the opposite of these policies are in effect. In less than a generation, we will be so far behind that it will impossible for Ontario to catch up. Taiwan has no natural resources and must rely on its people.

Comments: A minor suggestion: Paragraph 2, line 1 - change "a teacher" to "teachers" to agree with "their" and "they". Sorry, but once an English teacher ... .

Comments: I believe students should have a chance to be re-evaluated because circumstances will arise (sickness, family matters) that will require re-evaluation. However, the re-evaluation must have strict requirements/specific conditions that work for teachers.

Comments: This policy is making a joke of the educational system and certainly is not preparing students for the reality of the work world - lack of effort and failure has much more serious consequences there!!!!!!

Comments: Having a son-in-law who is a science teacher and whose profession is his hobby, I feel very strongly about the issue at hand. From his comments I know firsthand the frustration our teachers experience on a daily basis. No wonder the universities complain about the low standard of many of their new students resulting in a high drop-out rate. I hope this petition will be a success and an important first step to change the situation so that our young people can get the tools they need to succeed in life - Veronique

Comments: I concur. The education system is a vehicle to educate students to fit in society and prepare them for higher education--university, which under the present system will create problems to the student based on two different evaluation systems. University for many, especially in the first year , is diferent to say the least, but a different evaluation system, -- a ticket for possible failure. What effect then will this system have on a now young adult.

Comments: We are not doing students any favours by pretending that failure to complete assignments or tests is success. That is not the way life works. By high school, students need to learn how to deal with reality.

Comments: What a sad thing for education. Graual deterioration of a good Ontario system began many years ago with the elimination of the High School entrance exams which I remember having to write.
