The petition
Dear Governor Schwarzenegger and California Air Resources Board,
As a citizen-consumer, I want the choice to purchase plug-in electric vehicles. Plug-in hybrids and all-electric battery cars are needed now more than ever for cleaner air and a cooler planet. So far, the ZEV (Zero Emissions Vehicle) mandate has successfully demonstrated that major and independent vehicle manufacturers can make affordable and reliable electric cars. In your upcoming review of the ZEV mandate, we urge you to:
1. Maintain the ZEV-Gold credit system that enables independent electric vehicle manufacturers to put zero emission vehicles on the road.
2. Maintain the ZEV-Gold deadlines for major car manufacturers to produce zero-emission vehicles.
3. Make plug-in hybrids and all-electric battery cars the technology of choice.

We have been inspired by the work of the Electric Auto Association, Plug-In America, and the film, "Who Killed the Electric Car?" to produce this online petition. In this way, we can directly communicate with CARB and Governor Schwarzenneger about the need for electric vehicles. It is our hope that we can mobilize enough signatures to positively affect the upcoming review of the ZEV Mandate.
