Petition for the approval of a European Association Statute
We Undersigned,
– having regard to Articles 11 and 14 of the 1950 European Human Rights Convention which guarantee freedom of association without discrimination on any ground such as sex, race, colour, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, association with a national minority, property, birth or other status,
– having regard to Article 12 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, which safeguards the exercise of the right to freedom of association at all levels,
A. whereas non-profit-making legal entities do not enjoy the benefits of the regulations on freedom of movement,
B. whereas the earlier proposal on the Statute for a European Association was not adopted by the Council,
C. whereas it is necessary to ensure legal recognition for associations operating at Union level,
Call on the European Institutions to approve a European Association Statute which guarantees full freedom of movement for non-profit-making legal entities and free exercise of the freedom of association at European Union level. |
