The signatories to this petition wish to express their support with the intention of EU member state governments to reduce or defer the planned salary increase for 2010.

While respecting the legal challenge to the form of the original Council Decision to reduce the planned salary increase, we agree with the underlying intention to reduce or defer the salary increase at this time as a consequence of the economic crisis and consequent budgetary cutbacks.

The signatories to this petition disagree with any protest actions planned by the trade unions in this regard, and wish to support attempts to implement the spirit of the Council Decision through legal means.
