In the three years I have attended Ryle High School, I have noticed one right that both males and females do not share. That right is the right to wear shorts/capris. At Ryle the females are allowed to wear both skirts and carpis as long as they are extended to the knees. This leaves the bottom part of their leg exposed. I would like to know why this double standard exists, especially when it causes more of a distraction when a woman's legs are showing then it does when a man's are. I understand that when guys wear basketball shorts it can be a distraction because "pantsing" occurs, that is why this petition is for the right to wear khaki or jean shorts only.
