MAAT & Associates has submitted an application to the city of East Palo Alto to lead the celebration festivities of the 2011 EPA Juneteenth Celebration. The primary focus of MAAT & Associates is building Youth and Family Resilience through positive and empowering community/civic events which enhance relationships, partnerships and collaborations with individuals and businesses. Our goal is to serve the East Palo Alto and neighboring communities with standards and procedures of excellence. Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. We are rapidly approaching the celebration of the 145th Juneteenth national celebration and marking the 51stcelebration for the city of East Palo Alto, CA. It is with great reverence that we are requesting your collaboration and partnership with our agency to celebrate the National holiday of Juneteenth. This can be achieved by the closure of University Avenue in East Palo Alto, between the blocks of East Bayshore Road and Bell Street during the 2011 Juneteenth celebration. This event will be held on Saturday, June 11th and Sunday, June 12th. We are requesting for the street to be closed from Saturday, June 11th at 7:00 am until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, June 12th. Hours of operation for this joyous event will be 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. both days. Todays' Juneteenth commemorates African American freedom and emphasizes education and achievement. MAAT & Associates is looking forward to sharing this time of reflection and rejoicing. This petition will be both mailed via U.S. Mail and disseminated electronically to the City of East Palo Alto.
