We, the undersigned, whilst recognizing the need for change in the top flight of Scottish Football, would request that those persons responsible for the day to day running of the Scottish Premier League make sure that, although the number of teams playing in the league may be expanded, at least one team will still be relegated.
Too many times, in recent history, teams that have been incapable of providing or maintaining the level of play required to "dine at the top table" of our game have bee saved from relegation by the restructuring of the country's league system.
This practice must stop!
Surely if a fair, just and more exciting and interesting game is to be nurtured in Scotland, these teams that have provided no real competition in a given season should still be relegated.
For example. If the current SPL is to be enlarged to incorporate fourteen teams instead of the, current, twelve then, surely, it would make much more sense to get rid of some of the current SPL "dead wood" and replace it with an ambitious team from the current First Division?
We say again ... "Ensure relegation from the SPL!!"
