Intended Recepients Feb 11. 2010 | Comments (0)
A major oversight on my part was recently pointed out, so I wanted to quickly address who will be the intended recepients of this petition:
1. The Committees responsible for liturgy in the English-speaking Bishop's Conferences, especially the United States, Canada, UK, Ireland, and Australia. Note that this is not an exhaustive list, and I would welcome links to other conferences' Liturgy Committees.
2. The Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments in the Roman Curia.
I've chosen these organizations as I anticipate the "wait" petition to be sent to some, if not all, of them. This petition was established to counter the "wait" petition, so it would serve its function best if it was received by the same people who receive the other one.
The cover letter for this petition will make it clear that this petition is not offered as a form of voting for or against the new translation. Instead, it will describe the purpose of the petition: to show our support of the bishops' actions in approving the new translation of the 2002 Missale Romanum, and to make it clear that those who want to wait on the new translation speak only for themselves and not for all in the Church.
